Learning music through playing games.

 

Games like guitar hero, do they help someone actually play game? Guitar Hero can help rhythmically.

 

RockSmith, shows actual chord patterns etc. Claims you can “learn” guitar in 60 days.

 

Sing Smash - helps students sing pitches, but should have a time limit on how long they play it. Game was made for educational purposes. Has great motivation, students will want to beat the levels.

 

Final Provocation

 

- 1 in 10 students won't have internet at home, but will most likely have access elsewhere.

- Technology allows for more student-directed learning.

- Technology in Education has two side: childhood at risk / childhood empowered.

- Ken Robinson Creative Schools - James' suggested summer reading.

 

We went through what we did each week and briefly summarised.

 

- Office Mix - like powerpoint, ability to screen record etc. Lots of plugin.

- Kindle Textbook Creator - you make a document in a different program, and then import the pdf into the creator.
